This Privacy Policy explains how Videotrim ("Videotrim", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our website and application. We are committed to keeping the amount of data we hold about you to the absolute minimum, and to handling it in full compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The short version
- All of your data is stored and processed on servers located in the European Union.
- We use a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not track you across other sites.
- The only personal data we collect is your email address and the videos you upload. Nothing else about you.
- We never sell your data, and we never use your videos to train AI models.
Who is responsible for your data
Videotrim is a service operated by My Dreams Are These Oy (business ID FI3622718-6), a company registered in Finland. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. What data we collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible. Specifically:
- Email address — provided when you create an account. We use it to sign you in, to operate your account, and to send essential service messages (such as password resets or important changes to the service).
- Videos and clips — the video files you upload and the clips we generate from them. These are stored in your account so you can access, edit, and download them.
We do not collect your name, phone number, address, or any advertising identifiers, and we do not build a marketing profile of you.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. When you buy a credit pack, your card details are entered directly with Stripe — we never see or store your full payment card information. Stripe processes this data as an independent controller under its own privacy terms.
Analytics
We use a privacy-first, cookie-free analytics tool to understand aggregate website usage (for example, how many people visit a page). It does not set cookies, does not store personal identifiers, and does not track you across other websites. Because no cookies or similar tracking technologies are used for analytics, no cookie consent banner is required.
Why we use your data (lawful bases)
Under the GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Performance of a contract — to create and operate your account, store and process your videos, and deliver the clips you ask us to generate.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate, non-identifying usage of our website.
- Legal obligation — to retain certain records (for example, payment and tax records) where the law requires it.
Where your data is hosted
All personal data — your email address, your videos, and the clips we generate — is stored and processed on servers located within the European Union. We do not transfer your videos outside the EU for storage.
Service providers (sub-processors)
To run the service we rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. They may only use the data to provide their service to us, and never for their own purposes:
- EU cloud hosting & storage provider — hosts the application and stores your videos and clips within the EU.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Privacy-first analytics provider — cookie-free, aggregate website analytics.
- OpenAI (OpenAI API) — transcribes your videos so we can generate captions. Content sent via the API is not used to train OpenAI's models.
- Anthropic (Anthropic API) — analyzes your transcripts to identify the best moments for clips. Content sent via the API is not used to train Anthropic's models.
Where a provider processes data outside the EU, we ensure an appropriate transfer safeguard is in place (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses).
How long we keep your data
We keep your videos and clips for as long as your account is active, or until you delete them. You can delete any upload or clip at any time, and it is removed from our storage. If you close your account, we delete your videos and account data, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (for example, payment records for tax purposes).
Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@mydreamsarethese.com. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we have not handled your data lawfully.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and EU-based infrastructure. Your uploads and clips are private to your account — only you can access them.
Children
Videotrim is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you by email.
